Dear Parents:
We have recently been targeted by a dubious organization called Easy Background Check–
sources have informed us that they already have numerous lawsuits pending regarding their continuous pursuit to discredit legitimate companies and then to extort money from these companies so that they will remove the false information off of their web site. We have filed complaints with the FTC, FBI, and NW3C along with other reporting agencies for internet abuse.
Below I have provided other links for more information regarding Easy Background Check aka EZBC,
Rip Off Report:
This entire problem started in March when we heard that our site was listed on Easy Background Check. This is what we found:
“Kids Hollywood aka The Kids Hollywood Connection.com (www.KidsHollywood.com) (Phyllis Henson) - eml for more info, esp. if she tries to sell you expensive photography/comp
cards”. We were absolutely shocked by that statement and we went to their contact link to email them and explain that we have NEVER charged for photography or comp cards EVER and that our web site states that.
We expected them to remove the information or at least tell us why they were reporting that information. They would not tell us and instead twisted our words and made an entire page questioning our reputation. They then submitted that page to all the major search engines so that the listing would appear near ours. We tried to email and explain that we do not charge or receive any type of compensation for photos, portfolios, comp cards or anything of the sort. We offer an evaluation and informational 1 hour session to parents considering starting their children in show business.
Mysteriously about a week later a private investigator contacted us claiming to be “Mr.
Fexx”. This, of course, is all part of their plan as we were to discover. If we would have ignored their initial post, they may not have attacked us right away, but because we take pride in our 27+ year reputation we have now become their latest target and
another victim of their fallacious attack.
I called a friend and asked if they had heard of Easy Background Check and my eyes were opened to the scheme these people are trying to perpetrate. They first list something about a company that is not true and wait for the company to contact them. That is the hook, then no matter what the company writes them or shows them in terms of proof of their innocence, they twist the information to make it seem like the company is terrible. Then a “hero” private investigator will ride to the rescue and offer to get Easy Background Check to remove the inaccurate information for the low low price of $25,000
dollars plus a monthly retainer to make sure it doesn't come back. We all know that the so called, “private investigator” is nothing more than a conspirator in their scheme. We refuse to pay their extortion money. Will it hurt my business?
Possibly. Will it in the end cost me more than $25,000? Probably, but I have been involved with the entertainment industry for over 30 years and my company has been helping parents and children for more than 27 years. When California established laws for Advance-Fee Talent Services, my company was one of the very first to be licensed and bonded. We follow all guidelines set forth by the laws of the State of California and we are proud of that. We will not bow to their scheme. We just hope that the truth will prevail.
